Extensive questioning of foreign nationals at Canada Port of Entry

If you are travelling to Canada any time soon, be ready to go through some rigorous questions when you land at any international airport in Canada. Many of our clients who got visas through the firm have reported back that there was extensive questioning at the port of entry. Some people came into difficulties as a result of this new stringent process.

Port of Entry procedures

It is a normal procedure for immigration officers to question traveller about their mission in the country. Often it is a straight forward procedure where the officer asks a few questions without much problem. We have seen an increase in entry denial and visa revocation/cancellation in recent years.

At Canada port of entry, this is a new development. It is now not uncommon for foreign travellers and especially Nigerians to spend 2–4 hours being questioned at Canada airports before allowing entry. Travellers are also subjected to several interviews with 3-5 immigration officers. They do this to pick out the inconsistencies in the story you tell them.

This is to inform travellers to Canada to be aware of this new development and adequately prepare before travelling. You may get advice before you travel so you don’t run into problems.

We provide robust Port of Entry Service and Canada Visa Services.
